LADYPANTS x farfetch.com : shoeLADY

On any given day, a visitor to my Brooklyn brownstone home will be met by a resounding (if proverbial) “Hello!” from my sprawling canon of books and fashion magazines, sundry newspaper clippings and photographs hung lovingly against the apartment’s walls, and my ever-expanding shoe collection spilling from each corner.
Coquettish heels, edgy booties, luxurious pumps, relaxed sandals, and flashy sneakers line the walls of my bedroom, they the grown woman’s equivalent to a overzealous stuffed animal collection. Absurd in its size and nature, but one can’t help but add to the pile!
Of course trolling farfetch.com never really helps resolve this issue, me utterly defenseless in the face of luxury footwear that hails from equally glamorous international destinations. The site, which also shelves the most luxe designer clothes, kind of acts like a style nucleus for global luxury boutiques–a virtual hub of stores that stretches as wide as Singapore to Santa Barbara–wherein the fashion pack logs on and can easily shop from the world over.
Without hassle, I can have a pair of Giambattista Valli’s Platform Sandal shipped in from Paris, France’s Biondiniboutique, their burgundy suede peep toe silhouette and metallic platform with snake detailing infusing my late Summer/early Fall wardrobe with a film noir appeal that is quite in-line with my vintage leanings as of late. I’ve also been susceptible to white pumps recently, which is perhaps why I have been eyeing Lesilla’s suede Town 2 Platform in what I believe they call “eggshell.” Not only do I love the rounded toe and island platform of this style, but also the stark and modern contrast white makes on bottom. It’s unexpected and quite fresh.
I also decided the Alexander Wang Nikola Suede Strappy Mule needs to come home with me, they the perfect edgy, strappy heel for downtown’s alterna-girl all dressed up. Dior’s “Rock” sandal, with its spotted chunky heel and suede skins upper, has all the makings of “pre-historic glam”, while Balenciaga’s Slingback Peep Toe Sandal is screaming for me to pair them with a fuzzy, brightly hued sock for Fall. For now, as Summer beats on, my pedicured paws will simply peek out from the sky-high sandal’s butter soft leather toe.
As you can see “sensible” (read: flat) shoes seem to escape my grasp often, especially when I fall upon Giambattista Valli’s Strap Sandal, which in the subtlest shade of pink softens up a tough lace-up ankle bootie silhouette. Of course, I am not always prancing about in six-inch heels (hardly), but instead looking for cool, edgy alternatives, which the Chloe Chelsea boot perfectly serves as. The flat ankle bootie, with its almond toe, recalls a streamlined and mod chicness The Beatles-era ushered in. Perfect for ankle-cropped skinnies for Fall and flowing sundresses for Summer, I’m sure Ringo Starr is somewhere smiling.
Of course the list doesn’t stop there, but with farfetch.com a click away, I’m concerned whether or not my apartment will reach its full capacity.
